Diverse Talent Acquisition

FAS HR partners with FAS hiring managers to expand candidate pools and to locate qualified, diverse candidates for open FAS positions. For more information on this process, please see the FAS Diversity Talent Acquisition Services.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging in Staff Hiring

We developed the FAS Staff Hiring Toolkit, a comprehensive guide to assist FAS managers as they source, recruit and hire new staff. A key component of the toolkit is a section that guides managers in attracting a diverse pool of candidates for open positions.

In the section on Recruiting and Resources for Diverse Talent, there is a wealth of information related to recruiting and hiring with a DIB focus. This helps managers to evaluate the diversity of their team, provides information on diverse and inclusive networking, provides advice on how to work with candidates with disabilities, shares guidelines on how to source for diverse candidates, and gives instructions on how to develop a diverse search committee. The toolkit also provides resources to help hiring managers develop a diverse pool of candidates.

Development of Diverse Pipelines

Harvard and the FAS partner with Year Up, a national training program, to offer six month internships to 18 to 24-year-old talented adults from historically excluded communities, who will eventually take on future career roles in and outside of Harvard. Since the fall of 2011, FAS has engaged interns in departments such as Educational Support Services, HUIT, Organismic and Evolutionary Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics. Several of these interns have transitioned to regular and LHT positions at Harvard.
